Tim Wonacott is cooking with Saints in St Helena
The all new, Cooking with Saints programme was honoured by the visit of Tim Wonnacott and his wonderful wife Helen on Sunday, as they tried their hand in the art of making St. Helena Fishcakes
The Antiques Road Show UK TV favouite programme expert spent a week on St Helena representing The Harrods Travel Magazine and the mail on Sunday.
Having spent a hectic first few days on the Island, taking in a few tours and even St Helena’s very own antiques show, where some eighty seven residents took along almost a thousand different items for him to evaluate, he was able to have a Sunday afternoon relaxing on our lawn watching the sun set, before taking part in our unique “Do it Yourself” dinner! Cooking with Saints offers visitors the opportunity to select a St Helenian Dish, be shown how to cook it and then relax and enjoy the fruits of their labour. Tim and Helen were treated to fishcake making, starting with the preparation of the fish to portioning and rolling the cakes and then frying. “It was absolutely enjoyable and so different from how we make our fishcakes” said Tim “and the end result was so worth it – they were yummy”
Both Helen and Tim, love food and Helen is a dab hand at cooking herself and quite a few recipes were exchanged – some of which you will see in the Sandwich Bar soon. It was our pleasure to host the Wonnacotts’ on their visit to St Helena and we are sure their evening was just as enjoyable. Cooking with Saints is an ideal opportunity for you to enjoy a relaxed and informal.
